VICE Ganda did not feel offended when his movie "The Super Parental Guardians" was excluded from the official list of entries to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)."
The comedian believes that the MMFF selection committee and moviegoers have different taste when it comes to films they'd like to see.
He said quality is a subjective matter.
"After reading the tweets, I did not feel offended at all. The word quality is subjective. What quality to you might not be quality to me. Kaya hindi tayo pwede magtalo-talo na ito ang quality," he said at the press launch of his Star Cinema movie.
The Kapamilya star added he understands the decision of the MMFF and maintains that his present and prior films, which all raked big in the box-office, are of quality.
Vice Ganda said the mere fact that the audience laughed or was touched by what they've seen on the big screen is a testament already that the film was successful in delivering the message to the moviegoers.
"When you give people what they want to have and what they want to feel after watching the movie.... Yung paglabas nila ng sinehan, nakuha ng tao ang gusto niyang makuha pagkatapos ng pelikula na yun, yun ang quality."
"All my movies were all quality [films] dahil ang mga gustong maramdaman ng mga tao ay nakuha nila."
This year, the MMFF gives emphasis on story, audience appeal, cinematic attributes and technical excellence of the competing movies.
Nicanor Tiongson, head of the 2016 MMFF screening committee, said that they picked movies based on their "quality" over commercial value.
Vice Ganda, on his part, is keeping an open mind amid the exclusion in the MMFF.
"Let's be positive. Let's support them. We were given a lot of chances before at huwag nating ipagkait sa iba."
