Vice Ganda takes swipe at ‘stupid’ politicians

VICE Ganda said the voters are to blame if stupid politicians are elected in public office.

"Wag mong sisihin ung politiko dhil istupido sya. Sisihin mo sarili mo dhil binoto mo sya. Nagtrip lng naman syang tumakbo. At naniwala ka," the comedian tweeted on Thursday, May 4.

He added that it is unfortunate that other outstanding and capable leaders failed to get the support of the voting public.

"Ang saklap na yung mga mahuhusay at matitinong tao di nabigyan ng pagkakataong magkapwesto sa gobyerno. Pero yung mga pulpol namamayagpag."

Vice Ganda's posted the tweets after Senator Vicente "Tito" Sotto III was put in hot water over his "na-ano lang" comment about single mothers during the Commission on Appointments hearing last Wednesday.

During the panel hearing on the appointment of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy Taguiwalo on Wednesday, May 3, Sotto asked the former about being a single parent.

He said, "In the street language, when you have children and you are single, ang tawag dun e, 'na-ano lang".

Netizens were enraged by the senator's comment.

Vice Ganda himself posted a tweet after Sotto made the gaffe.

"Anung ganap? Bakit parang nagkakaanuhan? Anu na?! May naano ba? Sinong nang aano? Wag kayong ano jan ha!" he tweeted.

Aside from being a Senate Majority Leader, Sotto is co-hosting the longest-running noontime variety show in the country, "Eat Bulaga", aired on GMA-7, while Vice Ganda is one of the main hosts of "It's Showtime" of network rival ABS-CBN. Both shows are aired on same timeslot. (VoxPop Philippines)
