THE Liberal Party-National Union Party (LP-NUP) coalition in Misamis Oriental dominated the list elected officials in Friday's, August 26, meeting of chief executives for the election of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Misamis Oriental Chapter.
Villanueva town mayor Jennie Rosalie Uy has been elected as the first woman to head the league after being unopposed during the nominations.
The daughter of 2nd district representative Juliette Uy and former Villanueva mayor Julio Uy, Jennie Uy got the majority of 15 votes while 5 other Padayon Pilipino mayors chose to abstain.
Magsaysay Mayor Rey Buhian was elected as the external vice-president, Balingasag Mayor Marieta Abogado as secretary, Claveria Mayor Meraluna Abrogar as the treasurer, Opol Mayor Max Seno as auditor and Mayor Donito Chan as the information officer.
The board of directors for the first district are Mildred Mundigo, Salay Mayor Jun-jun Capistrano, Binuangan Mayor Tomas Gumahin, and Kinoguitan Mayor Jun-jun Lagbas while Alubijid Mayor Alvin Labis, Junie Uy, Loloy Mugot, and Dodoy Obsioma are the directors for the second district.
In her speech, 2nd district representative Juliette Uy vowed to support the plans of the new officials saying that they should put aside politics and unite for progress.
"Tabangan ko kamo sa inyong plano nga proyekto. Ang ako lang dili lang kaayo nato sobrahan ang pulitika kay nakita nato ang lakaw sa LMP, everytime naay meeting, gamay ra kaayo ang gaapil. So we should avoid that and instead let's unite," Uy said.
"Daghan ga-ingon nga hinay kuno kaayo ang LMP sa Misamis Oriental kay lage iya-iya kita ug paningkamot, dili unified atong goal. Hopefully ma-change kini. Bisan pag-abot a piniliay, okay lang nga magka-away na pud kita because ingana man gayud pero while wala pa, we should stay as friends for the people," she added.
