West Visayas crimes drop by 17.6% in 11 months

CRIME incidents in Western Visayas decreased by 17.60 percent, or 14,095 cases, from January to November this year compared to the same period in 2016.

Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas, in a text message Sunday, December 17, said a total of 65,998 incidents were recorded this year while last year was 80,093.

Index crimes like murder, homicide, robbery, theft, and rape this year have dropped 15.95 percent, or 19,525 from last year’s 23,290 incidents.

The average monthly crime rate decreased by 15.33 percent.

The crime solution efficiency increased by 0.73 percent while crime clearance also increased by 0.84 percent.

On the campaign against illegal drugs, the 1,285 operations led to the arrest of 1,976 persons and 2,085 filed cases.

The PRO-Western Visayas assured the public that everybody's safety is the primordial concern of the policemen.

For 2018, police vowed to continuously "perform and transform" by accelerating their commitment and performance.
