THE STI West Negros University (WNU) will grant educational scholarships to the Most Valuable Player awardees of the 1st Congressman Greg Gasataya Basketball Cup.
"This tournament, which will run until end of May, will serve as an avenue for young cagers to be given the opportunity to be scouted and be discovered and play in other leagues. We want to provide our players the venue to excel," Gasataya said. "We would like to thank the barangays in supporting this league."
The budget for the tournament came from the Congressional Office with support from STI WNU and other partners, he added.
The tournament will feature 20 teams for U12 and 32 teams for the Open categories.
The champion team in the Open category will receive P20,000 and a trophy while P15,000 and P10,000 will be awarded to the first and second runner-ups as well as trophies.
In the Under 12 category, the champion team will receive P10,000; first runner-up, P7, 000; and second runner-up, P5,000. All winners will also get trophies. (HGD)
