A WOMAN accused some operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Visayas of stealing gadgets and more than P20,000 in cash after her parents were arrested on Wednesday dawn, January 31, in a drug bust in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
Annaliza Loremas said she had asked the Commission on Human Rights-Central Visayas to look into the incident. She is the daughter of suspected pushers Reynaldo and Perla Abella, both of whom yielded 55 grams of "shabu" worth P275,000.
"Wala lang ta sila magbinuang (They should not have messed with those)," she said.
She accused the agents, most of whom wore masks, of entering the house without a search warrant.
Eight cell phones, a computer tablet, a wallet containing P700 in cash, P3,000 cash for Loremas's children, Loremas's brother's salary of P12,000 and bracelet were gone.
Her aunt's money amounting to P12,000, which was intended for a baptism, was also missing.
Loremas said there was no drug bust. She said they were asleep when the agents conducted the operation.
PDEA-Central Visayas Director Emerson Margate said they welcome any investigation against his operatives, some of whom were accused of stealing properties of suspected pushers in the past.
He said the Abellas have been listed in the watch list of drug personalities, but Loremas denied the accusation, saying her father worked as an automotive technician.
Margate said it is common for the relatives of arrested pushers to discredit PDEA agents, who were instructed not to wear masks and conduct the drug bust in a proper manner. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
