FOUR construction workers were hospitalized after they were trapped in a drainage system along the highway in an east coast village of Zamboanga City.
The local police identified the victims as the following: Felix Rodriguez, 58, Edgar Dela Cruz, 48, Edison Fajardo, Jr., 28, and Jose Samson.
The police said the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Monday, September 5, along the highway in the village of Boalan, eight kilometers east of this city.
Investigation showed the victims were working in a 10-feet deep drainage system that is under construction when they were trapped as the soil suddenly eroded.
All, except Fajardo, were immediately rescued and rushed to the hospital.
Rescuers managed to pluck out Fajardo around 8 p.m.
All of them remained admitted at the hospital for treatment.
