ZAMBOANGA City has been conferred with the Green Banner Award, the highest honor given to local government units (LGUs) with excellent implementation and management of nutritional programs.
City Hall Information Officer Belen Sheila Covarrubias said the award was conferred by the Department of Health (DOH) during the 2016 Regional Nutrition awarding Ceremony Friday afternoon, November 4, at the Palacio del Sur with Assistant Secretary Abdula Dumama, Jr. as guest of honor.
Covarrubias said the city, recognized as a Crown (consistent Regional Winner in Nutrition) awardee, received a plaque and a cash incentive of P500,000.
She said City Health Officer Rodel Agbulos was awarded as the region’s most outstanding city nutrition action officer while recognition was also afforded to the nutrition workers from the village of Guisao, Sta. Maria and Tumaga. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
