THE Department of Health (DOH) has lined up P667.57 million-projects for implementation this year to enhance the services of the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC).
First district Representative Celso Lobregat, vice chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, said the projects are cancer center which costs P343 million, emergency and critical care center which costs P90 million and, central block five-storey Tower 1 which costs P234.57 million.
Lobregat said the establishment of a cancer center has been the dream of local government and health officials.
He said the cancer patients from Zamboanga City and nearby area will no longer have to go to Manila, Cebu or Davao for treatment once it is is established.
The building that will house the Emergency and Critical Care Center was already bidded and awarded while the needed equipment is up for bidding.
He said the construction of the building of the center will cost P50 million while P40 million for the equipment. It will also house the laboratory, x-ray, operating room for trauma cases, women and child protection unit, pharmacy and beds for critical care.
The central block five-storey Tower 1 was already bidded and awarded for construction and will house the surgery departments, pediatrics, Surgical and Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit, Pediatrics Cancer, Burnt Unit, Geriatrics Unit, 20 private rooms, chapel and conference room.
The completion of the projects will further improve the services of the ZCMC, the biggest government hospital in Zamboanga Peninsula. (VoxPop Philippines)
