A TOTAL of 26 sport disciplines will be offered in the month-long summer sports program to be spearheaded by the local government in May.
City Sports Development Officer Cecilia Atilano said the Basic Sports Summer Camp 2017, most commonly known as the Learn to Play a Sport Program, is a training and sports clinic which aims to teach children ages eight to 15 the rudiments of their chosen sport discipline for free.
Now on its 22nd year, Atilano said the “Summer Learn to Play” is part of the local government’s sports development program.
She said the month-long sports program also serves as a training ground to scout and hone future athletes of the city aside from providing a fun and recreational learning experience during their summer break.
This year’s Summer Learn to Play will include: archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, baseball/softball, body building, bowling, boxing, chess, dancesport, football/futsal, gymnastics, judo, karatedo, muay thai, pencak silat, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwando, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, and wushu.
Atilano said the sports camp will be held from May 1 to 31. Application forms for the program are available at the City Sports Office and at the Public Information Office at City Hall.
The deadline for application is on April 30. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)>/b>
