ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar on Wednesday, April 12, led the local government workforce in the observance of the Holy Week with the traditional rite of walking up the Stations of the Cross at the Climaco Freedom Park in Mount Abong-Abong.
Salazar, along with local officials, department heads, and employees, trekked through the 14 stations at the Climaco Freedom Park, in solidarity with the Christian community who will be observing the Holy Week, which will run from Palm Sunday, April 9 to Easter Sunday, April 16.
The Climaco Freedom Park, site of the 14 Stations of the Cross and the Cruz Mayor, has recently undergone rehabilitation and improvement to ensure the safety and security of devotees expected to flock in the area this Holy Week starting Holy Wednesday, April 12 until Black Saturday, April 15.
On Tuesday afternoon, April 11, Salazar formally turned over the completed facilities brought about by the P4.99 million improvement and rehabilitation project undertaken by the local government.
The project included the paving of roads, construction of slope protections, and the construction of a comfort room facility at the Cruz Mayor area.
Salazar, likewise, appealed for the public’s cooperation to the provisions of Executive Orders 255 and 256, which impose the temporary traffic scheme and the prohibition of specific items inside Climaco Freedom Park from April 12 to 15. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
