THE Zamboanga City Government has allocated P2 million to decorate Christmas trees and lanterns in the landmarks and major thoroughfares of this city during the yuletide season.
City general service officer Rene Dela Cruz said among the landmarks that will be decorated with electrical lanterns are City Hall, Plaza del Pilar, Paseo del Mar, Plaza Pershing, Jardin Maria Clara at Pasonanca Park and the Veteran’s monument.
Dela Cruz said a 55-feet and a 30-feet tall Christmas trees will be built at the Paseo del Mar and Plaza Pershing, respectively.
The Paseo del Mar, which is located at the back of the historical Our Lady of the Pillar shrine, is the newest leisure park while the Plaza Pershing is one of the oldest landmarks of this city.
Dela Cruz said the target date of completion in decorating the landmarks is by the end of this month in time for the simultaneous lighting of Christmas trees on December 1.
He said City Hall will again serve as the center of attraction and activities during the yuletide season. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
