ZAMBOANGA City Administrator Marie Angelique Go has ordered the City Traffic Enforcement Team to undergo retraining in a bid to improve their professional competence, ethical practices and public service.
Go said there is an immediate need for the 35 traffic enforcers to undergo refresher course on traffic rules and traffic management so they can perform their duties and responsibilities with competence, integrity and decorum.
The City Traffic Enforcement Team or so-called “blue boys” conduct traffic direction and control for the safe and orderly movements of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
Although small in number, the group is in charge of enforcing the Revised Traffic Code Ordinance 248.
It instills awareness among the public of their obedience to traffic rules and regulation and the importance of road safety.
Go said the City Government is initiating moves to improve traffic enforcement and management with the retraining of the blue boys as one of the key steps. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
