THE Zamboanga City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (ZCDRRMO) topped the regional search of the Gawad Kalasag, garnering a final rating of 94 percent in the field validation.
Kalasag stands for Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan.
Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, ZCDRRMO chief, said the achievement this year showed they have efficiently and effectively performed their mandated tasks as they surpassed last year’s rating of 86 percent.
The ZCDRRMO was adjudged as the best highly-urbanized CDRRMC in the region based on the field validation conducted by the Regional Selection Committee for Zamboanga Peninsula.
The ZCDRRMC was judged based on a Gawad Kalasag checklist which evaluated pertinent documents, equipment, and facilities, among others, as well as an actual assessment duly validated by the selection committee.
In the process, Apolinario said his office is officially nominated to compete for the national category of the Gawad Kalasag.
The awarding for the regional Gawad Kalasag will be held in July, this year, during the observance of the National Disaster Consciousness Month. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
