THE 1st Regional Advisory Council Summit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) for Zamboanga Peninsula will be held March 15-16 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The summit, which is the first ever in the region, will be participated by the different advisory councils of the different PNP units in the region.
Superintendent Muammar Mukaram, chief of the Public Safety Command of Zamboanga Sibugay, said the summit will be an avenue where the members of the different advisory councils will meet and share their experiences and best practices to further enhance their role in making the police organization responsive to the development needs of the community.
“The (different) members will be able to share their experiences and best practices during the two-day summit,” Mukaram told Sunstar Philipppines.
The Police Advisory Council, which was established from the national down to the municipal level, serves as an advisory body of the PNP in the implementation of the Peace and Order Agenda for Transformation and Upholding of the Rule of Law (Patrol) Plan 2030.
According to Mukaram, this is part of the continuous transformation strategy for the PNP to achieve its goal to become capable, effective, and credible police office.
Using the Performance Governance System (PGS), funded under the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the national police force seeks to translate its vision into concrete and measurable results. It also aligned its operational activities with bigger and long-term objectives to be monitored using established scoring system, he said.
The members of the advisory councils, together with the Technical Working Group (TWG), has the responsibility to evaluate and amend the strategies for the implementation of the PGS.
They shall also advise their corresponding units the necessary amendment to the current and development of future programs, projects, and activities, Mukaram added.
They will also assist and advise the PNP unit where they are embedded on possible ways to generate additional enabling resources in order to support and sustain the PNP’s present and future plans and programs.
The two-day summit is expected to generate interests among members of the advisory councils to further the program and activities of the PNP Patrol, Mukaram said.(VoxPop Philippines)
