CALOOCAN Bishop Pablo Virgilio David reacted to statements made by President Rodrigo Duterte regarding a certain "Bishop David" whom the latter alleged has been using church funds for personal use.

"I am the only Bishop 'David' in the CBCP. I think he has confused me for someone else," David said in a statement Friday, November 23.

"You see, people who are sick sometimes do not know what they are talking about, so we should just bear with them. My parents never taught me to steal," he said in a Facebook post.

Duterte on Friday said that he knows of a certain "Bishop David" who is using church offerings and money for the priest's personal use. However, he did not name the said prelate.

"Alam mo sa totoo lang, iyong mga offerings, iyong mga pinya, avocado, saging, saan napupunta 'yan? Gusto niyong malaman? Gusto niyo ng video? Ibigay ko sa inyo. Doon sa pamilya niya," Duterte said in a speech in Tanza, Cavite during the inauguration of the Cavite Gateway Terminal, the country's first and only barge port.

This is Duterte's latest criticism of the Catholic Church.
