THE Mabalacat City College (MCC) has passed 3,000 graduating and non-graduating students, officially closing the second semester on May 4, 2020.
In a memorandum, the MCC announced that the school promoted the students en masse, in light of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) which hampered the students' schooling.
With the approval of the MCC's Board of Trustees guided by the Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) Covid-19 Advisory, the memorandum stated that effective May 4, 2020, the second semester for Academic Year 2019-2020 is declared closed.
All graduating students will be conferred "graduates" upon completion of minimum requirements to be submitted on August 30, 2020.
The guidelines also said that all non-graduating students shall receive passing marks, except for those who dropped or failed before the March 14 suspension of classes due to the ECQ.
According to MCC Chief Administrative Officer Michelle Aguilar-Ong, all missed learnings from the previous semester will be given on the first month upon the resumption of classes slated on August 24, 2020.
"At the end of the 30-day flexible learning, students will have their examination to determine their grades. No failing grade will be given but a bridging program will be offered to students with low scores," Ong said.
She added that students who wish to apply for a leave of absence next semester, which is on August, will be marked "Due to Covid-19" in their transcript of records (TOR).
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, also the MCC Officer-in-Charge-President, in his semester-ender letter, thanked the students for actively participating in this decision-making which was appreciatively approved by the Board of Trustees.
