SEVEN suspected commercial sex workers and their two male pimps were rescued in Barangay Balibago, the city's entertainment district, on Wednesday, January 30.

Balibago Chairman Rodelio "Tony" Mamac said the victims will be turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

The village chief said they recently waged a crackdown against prostitution and illegal drugs in line with the national government peace and order campaign.

In cooperation with the local police, the barangay peace keeping forces were able to apprehend and rescue prostitutes staying in some motorist hotels in the area, according to Mamac.

Majority of the rescued sex workers are living in nearby cities and towns including Mabalacat, it was learned.

Mamac warned the rescued individuals to stop their illegal activities.

"Majority of the women we rescued are suffering from sexually transmitted diseases," the barangay official said.
