THE Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Luzon signed a memorandum of understanding for the Adopt A Family Balik Probinsya Program and Food Highway.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar led the launching early this week of the PNP Kaligkasan Food Security and Food Highway Project, which jumpstarts the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa Program by virtue of Executive Order (EO) 114.
EO 114 institutionalizes the Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BP2) Program as a pillar of balanced regional development. Under the order, DA will provide agri-based support services.
In his message, Dar ensured the Philippine National Police of its full support in its various food production initiatives and agri-fishery related endeavors.
"DA, as one of the members of the council, is looking into food security as one of the key pillars of the program. Ensuring food security is a must. But nationwide, we have to elevate our game in making it possible that our food sufficiency level must be higher than before," Dar said.
DA has been forging partnership with various institutions to attain food security for all Filipinos. Late last month, Dar launched in Camp Aguinaldo the Urban Agriculture program in partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
