IN LINE with preventive measures against coronavirus disease, a total lockdown is implemented in the whole municipality of Apalit every Sunday.
Mayor Oscar Tetangco, Jr. signed Executive Order No. 23 Series of 2020 which declares all Sundays during the duration of enhanced community quarantine as "no movement" day.
During the said day, residents are not allowed to go out of their houses unless necessary such as emergency situations.
The public market, which follows a strict schedule per barangay, is also closed during Sunday to further discourage movement among citizens.
However, essential establishments such as drugstores, supermarkets and health facilities are still allowed to operate until 2 p.m. during Sundays.
"We limit the movement of people as much as we can because we are the carriers of the virus. All holders of modified quarantine passes can purchase their needs during their designated market day, which is twice a week for all barangays. Other than that, a strict 24/7 curfew must be observed," Tetangco said.
Meanwhile, frontliners and other essential workers are exempted from the total lockdown, provided that they will present valid identification cards and passes required on checkpoints.
