CLARK FREEPORT -- As part of its relentless effort in protecting the borders against restricted goods, the Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Clark turned over various forfeited and abandoned shipments of firearms and accessories to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
These shipments include 17 pieces of riflescope, four pieces front and four pieces rear sights, telescopic sights, airsoft knights SR-16 Carbine, 10 pieces Kevlar helmets, breast plates, eight cans of pellets and gun magazine, bullet proof vest and assorted gun parts that are covered by Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) and Abandonment Proceedings (AP).
These were seized and forfeited for lack of Authority to Import from PNP-Firearms and Explosives Office, a violation of Section 117 of Republic Act (RA) 10863 (CMTA) and RA 10591 or the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act."
The said turn-over activity was made pursuant to Section 1147 (a) of RA 10863 (CMTA).
Present were District Collector Ruby Alameda, BOC-Clark Deputy Collectors, PNP-FEO Chief Rommil Mitra, other PNP Officers and representatives from the Commission on Audit.
In a statement, District Collector Alameda said that the Port of Clark will relentlessly enforce customs rules and regulations and will remain steadfast in apprehending shipments that violate the CMTA.
