CLARK FREEPORT -- The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has boosted its law enforcement program in this Freeport as it acquired new equipment to curb over speeding of vehicles.
The CDC Public Safety Division (PSD) acquired a new speed gun set which will be used to check on erring drivers while traversing Clark roads. The equipment will measure the speed of an approaching vehicle and it will also record violations with its extended video tracking and speed capture range in real time.
According to CDC–PSD Traffic Division Chief Jesus Marquez, the said equipment will help them identify motorists who have tendencies to go over prescribed speeds inside Clark. He also furthered that the new speed gun will also serve as a tool to prevent vehicular accidents.
Marquez said that the new speed gun is a more improved material from their previous unit as it can collect not just speed measurements but other pertinent data for oncoming or departing vehicles.
"What's good about this new material is that it can transmit violation data and images fast through wifi and then to the mobile printer," he said.
The said material can also enforce speed limits within a same highway and can distinguish between commercial and private vehicles. It can also allow enforcement at night and within tunnels.
The current speed limit being enforced here is 60 kilometers per hour (kph) on major highways especially in M.A. Roxas Highway formerly Mitchell Highway.
Marquez said that since the implementation of the new speed gun system in the middle of September this year, there were already five violators who were pulled over for speeding and were fined for P1,000 each.
Marquez mentioned that the authorities from North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), Tarlac -Pangasinan -La Union Expressway (TPLex) and Subic -Clark -Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) are using the same technology to maintain traffic rules and order.
The traffic division of CDC also made the benchmarking program with the said highway operators in Central Luzon on how they would maintain and prevent over speeding on the said highways in the region.
The said equipment was manufactured by Laser Technology Inc., an American company which is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative laser-based speed and distance measurement instruments including laser rangefinders, speed guns and sensors.
