CITY of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago reminded the public to be responsible in posting or sharing information on their social media in compliance to the Data Privacy Act of 2002.
This came following a resident of San Fernando, Aiza Canlas, who was considered a person under monitoring (PUM) due to her recent travel to China cried foul over the disclosure of her information to public via a social messaging application.
"Our PUMs cooperated with the health protocol to protect not only their families but also the community so am asking the public to respect their privacy," he said.
Santiago said the City Government also cleared the name of Canlas, her sister Nanette Silloco and another PUM Girlie Juico through the Facebook page of the City Information Office.
Based on the post, the former PUMs have completed the recommended 14-day quarantine period and remain asymptomatic to date.
Santiago, meanwhile, said the City Government is ready to provide legal assistance to Canlas in the charges she filed at the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon's Cybercrime Unit against those responsible in the disclosure of their information.
He also warned the public that the City Government will go after those who continuously post or share confidential or unverified reports through any platform.
"This is the time when we most need everyone's cooperation and unity so I am asking every Fernandino to be responsible as we deal with our current health situation," he said.
