INDONESIAN officials led by Mayor Oded Mohamad Danial were impressed by the City Government of San Fernando's compliance to zero waste management programs.
Mayor Edwin Santiago shared the city's goal in following environmental practices that have been realized, since the city is one of Asia Pacific region's best zero waste models.
"It was never easy. Back then, we saw garbage as one of our biggest problems," Santiago said.
Santiago explained how they accomplished sustaining and balancing the city's ecological system and how everyone in the community cooperated in the program.
An impressed Danial said that the productive environment effects and zero waste governance practices of San Fernando made the Bandung government forge a partnership with San Fernando.
The event is a program of the Mother Earth Foundation (MEF)'s Zero Waste Cities Network that intends to lessen waste by making citizens from every country work together as zero waste management advocates.
Pilar Village's materials recovery facility and household garbage collection, one of the city's model subdivisions, was also shown to the Indonesian officials.
