CITY OF Disaster council still on red alertSAN FERNANDO -- The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council in Central Luzon is still on red alert status for the possible effects of typhoon "Rosita" in the region.
Office of Civil Defense Central Luzon Operations Chief Robert Manalo enjoined RDRRMC-Central Luzon members, particularly those under the Response Cluster, to render duty at the Operations Center in the City of San Fernando to ensure continuous coordination and observe measures after Rosita lashed Northern and Central Luzon on Tuesday, October 30.
Classes in elementary to high school in Pampanga were suspended on Tuesday after Signal Number 2 was hoisted over the province. Angeles City's Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan also declared the suspension of classes in the city for all levels.
Pampanga Provincial DRRM Officer Angie Blanco said in a statement that disaster response equipment have been prepositioned while emergency responders are on standby 24 hours.
As early as October 25, Blanco said the city and municipal disaster management offices have been advised to activate their disaster response program, conduct close monitoring especially in areas prone to flash floods, water surges and landslides, and implement pre-emptive evacuation if needed.
The local DRRMs are also tasked to submit situational report at least every six hours and advise the PDRRMO if augmentation of equipment and manpower is needed in their area, Blanco added.
Bulacan and Bataan provinces have also suspended classes in all levels on Tuesday.
