THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured that there is no panic buying of essential goods and prime commodities in supermarkets in Bataan amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

DTI provincial director Nelin Cabahug, together with officials from the City Government of Balanga and Balanga City police station (CPS), visited Friday, April 17, Waltermart Supermarket in Balanga City for an actual price monitoring.

"There is no panic buying here in Bataan. Residents here in the province have their own quarantine pass in which there is a schedule in every barangay on what days they are allowed to go outside to buy goods. It is strictly enforced here so there are no queuing or panic buying," Cabahug said during an interview broadcasted on Rektang Konek-Aksyon Agad program.

Cabahug disclosed that DTI is continuously conducting regular monitoring visits to different supermarkets in the province to ensure that there are enough supplies of goods for the public.

Moreover, Balanga CPS Chief of Police Police Lieutenant Colonel Luic Guisic said they have observed strict implementation of prize freeze, mandatory wearing of face mask for personnel and observance of social distancing during the monitoring visit.

A similar activity was held in other provinces and cities in Central Luzon as part of the simultaneous Rektang Supermarket Visit, a project of the Police Regional Office - Central Luzon aiming to ensure proper implementation of guidelines as set for supermarkets during the enhanced community quarantine period.
