A FLOATING market was launched in a barangay in Apalit town in a bid to further limit the movement of people amid the threat of the coronavirus disease.
The floating market, situated along the Pampanga River in Barangay Capalangan here, offers meat, egg, vegetables, fruits and other basic food commodities.
It is open every Tuesday and Thursday to cater to residents of the said barangay and nearby villages, said Mayor Oscar Tetangco, Jr.
"Aside from being able to promote quarantine per barangay, the floating market also lessens the travel expenses of residents since Barangay Capalangan is among the remote villages from our public market," he said.
The floating market serves as an extension to the town's public market in Barangay San Vicente which also follows a strict scheduling and clustering to prevent congestion of people inside.
