INDIGENTS from Floridablanca town and the nearby town of Lubao received PhilHealth cards under the program dubbed "Alaga Ka para sa Maayos na Buhay" or simply Alaga Ka in order to provide poor families with greater access to primary health care services.
Governor Lilia Pineda led the distribution at the Floridablanca Sports Complex while recent distributions were also held in Lubao town.
The distribution is aimed at providing help for the poorest of the poor, which is being carried out by the Department of Health (DOH), PhilHealth and the provincial government.
"Alaga Ka" is aimed at helping Filipinos benefit from the health services that PhilHealth offers for a minimum or zero balance bill.
Alaga, which stands for ALAmin at GAmitin, is a campaign strategy that aims to better disseminate appropriate information regarding rights and privileges under the present Kalusugan Pangkalahatan (KP) to PhilHealth members, especially to qualified dependents of indigent, sponsored program and organized groups as well as land-based members of those under the Overseas Workers Program (OWP) and employees of the DepEd.
PhilHealth's Alaga Ka program aims to care for the poor by making primary health care effectively reach indigents through various services of DOH, LGUs and PhilHealth through its "TSeKaP or Tamang Serbisyo para sa Kalusugan ng Pamilya."
Aside from this, the governor also mentioned that non-PhilHealth members can avail of its services through PhilHealth's "point of care program".
"Point of care" is a health program where the poor patients who are non-PhilHealth members, admitted in government hospitals like in the eleven district hospitals, may also avail of the services of PhilHealth.
