CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Kapampangan Bishop Pablo Virgilio "Ambo" David of the Diocese of Kalookan has been designated as acting president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
This is to give ample time for the recovery of CBCP President and Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles, who had suffered a mild stroke last December.
Valles' condition had been compounded by hospital-acquired pneumonia.
Valles and David were re-elected to their posts during the CBCP Plenary Assembly in July 2019. They started their second term as president and vice president of the CBCP on December 1, 2019. They will serve from Dec. 1, 2019 to November 30, 2021.
