RESIDENTS of Magalang town in Pampanga who were placed under quarantine have received food assistance from the local government.
The local government unit (LGU), under the leadership of Mayor Romy Pecson, distributed food packs to families, which were isolated because of Covid-19.
The mayor assured the affected residents of continuous support from the LGU.
Personnel from the Office of the Mayor and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) assisted in the distribution of food packs and other essential products to the families under quarantine.
Pecson on Tuesday, March 16, ordered for the enforcement of a curfew in the entire town from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day.
Residents caught violating the ordinance twice will be fined P2,500.
On Tuesday, March 16, the Municipal Health Office recorded two new Covid-19 cases, including an 87-year-old man from Barangay San Jose.
This brought the total number of Covid-19 cases in the town to 224, as of March 16, 2021.
Pecson said 185 patients had recovered and 15 died because of the virus.
The mayor asked the residents to observe health protocols, including social distancing, wearing of face covers and others to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the locality.
