THE first coronavirus disease (Covid-19) patient of the agricultural town of Magalang has recovered, the local government stated on Wednesday, May 13.
The patient, with a codename Covid-19 M1, has been discharged from the hospital and tested negative on her second swab test at the Department of Health (DOH), the municipal government said.
"Lumabas kanina na nag-negatibo na ang resulta ng pangalawang confirmatory swab test sa DOH ni Covid-19 M1 pagkatapos nitong mag positibo sa sakit noong nakaraang buwan," the LGU posted in its Faecebook account.
The town's first patient is a medical frontliner in another city in Pampanga and lives in Barangay San Francisco here.
Covid-19 M2, the town's second patient, is in good condition and currently completing a quarantine at the Diosdado Macapagal Medical Center in Lubao town. The patient's relatives were placed under strict home quarantine by the Magalang Inter Agency Task Force For the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (Magalang IATF).
The local government added that Covid-19 M3, the town's third positive patient, is Magalang's first mortality.
Covid-19 M3's relatives and the persons he associated with were also placed under home quarantine by the Municipal Health Office.
"Ang kanyang pamilya at mga taong kanyang nakahalubilo base sa contact tracing na ginawa ng Municipal Health Office kasama ang mga Barangay Health and Emergency Response Team.
The local government provides assistance to the patient's family. "Ang mga pamilya ay araw araw binibigyan ng ayuda ng local na pamahalaan ng Magalang."
The local officials, headed by Mayor Romy Pecson, asked their constituents to continue praying for the patients.
They also appealed to the town folks to observe safety and quarantine protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the town.
The municipality has 62 persons under monitoring or suspected Covid-19 patients and three confirmed cases with one recovered, one confined in the hospital, and one death.
