THE second confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has been recorded in Masantol town on Tuesday, a week after it announced its first infection, which broke its six-month virus-free status.
Mayor Danilo Guintu said the patient is a 36-year-old female from Barangay Bebe Anac and the wife of Covid Case 1.
The mayor said the patient was tested although asymptomatic after being exposed to her coronavirus-positive husband.
On Monday, GreenCity Medical Center released the patient's RT-PCR test results, which turned out to be positive, Guintu added.
He said the local government is closely monitoring the family and other close contacts of the patients as it is a case of household transmission.
"We are now conducting contact-tracing measures to immediately isolate and test individuals who could have been infected, and hopefully stop the spread of the virus in our town," he said.
