HUNDREDS of indigent but deserving college students from Masantol town received educational assistance over the weekend under the Commission on Higher Education's (CHEd) "Tulong Dunong" program.
The P2-million grant was coursed through the office of 4th District Representative Juan Pablo "Rimpy" Bondoc, who personally distributed them to beneficiaries on Saturday.
Bondoc said that a total of 320 Masantoleño tertiary students enrolled in different private and public colleges and universities received P6,000 financial assistance each intended to cover for their second semester classes.
In his speech, Bondoc reiterated the importance of education in achieving a better future for the youth through wider opportunities offered in the professional field.
"Education serves as the weapon of the children as they climb through the ladder of success. And this scholarship grants aims to equipped them with a complete weapon," Bondoc said.
Mayor Danilo Guintu, who assisted in the distribution, expressed his gratitude to CHEd and Bondoc for continuously providing assistance and paving the way for the better future of Masantoleño youth.
He, meanwhile, urged the beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity given to them by the government by arming themselves with the knowledge they can use in their chosen field.
"Many children are struggling but are not given the same opportunity as yours, so maximize it while you can and give back to your family once you've graduated," he said.
