CITY OF SAN FERNANDO---President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. on Monday, July 17, distributed government assistance to some 1,000 Kapampangans during his visit at the Capitol here.
The president was in Pampanga yesterday to witness the signing of the memorandum of agreement on the establishment of KADIWA ng Pangulo in local government units (LGUs) nationwide at the Capitol after his inspection of the ongoing construction of the multi-specialty hospital in Clark Freeport.
The assistance Marcos, Jr. extended to the beneficiaries include the the Department of Social Welfare and Development's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), family food packs and Sustainable Livelihood Program; the Department of Labor and Employment's Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers, Government Internship Program, Negosyo sa Kariton and Kabuhayan Starter Kits under the Integrated Livelihood Program, livelihood grants through various Starter Kit Projects and livelihood enhancement project; the Department of Trade and Industry's Small Business Corporation and Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa; the Department of Agriculture’s Enhanced KADIWA Financial Grant Assistance Program and establishment of a Rice Processing Complex (RPC); and Technical Education and Skills Authority starter tool kits.
The agreement signed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry), Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Presidential Communications Office and Presidential Management Staff institutionalizes the KADIWA ng Pangulo or KNP in LGUs.
The KNP enables farmers to sell directly to consumers by removing market layers, making fresh agricultural and fishery commodities accessible at affordable prices to consumers, as well as establishing additional markets for farmers, fishermen and micro enterprises to sell locally produced agri-fishery products and basic necessities.
Marcos said the principle of the KADIWA is an all-of-government approach in which services and prices of basic necessities are cascaded to the grassroots.
As of 16 June 2023, there are 342 KADIWA outlets nationwide.
Marcos was welcomed by Kapampangan officials led by Governor Dennis Pineda and Vice-Governor Lilia Pineda.
Governor Pineda thanked Marcos and urged mayors to support the projects which benefit Kapampangans.
