MAYORS Rodrigo Canlas of San Simon and Oscar Tetangco Jr. of Apalit cast their votes Monday, May 13, in hopes to reclaim their seats as local chief executives.
Tetangco arrived early at the San Vicente Central School in Barangay San Vicente, Apalit Monday morning to officially exercise his right to vote.
"I am now excited for the results of the elections. Whatever it may be, I am hopeful that it will be for the betterment of my beloved hometown," said Tetangco.
He added that whatever the results will be, he will accept it wholeheartedly as he did in his desire to serve his fellow Apaliteños and lead his hometown into further development.
If re-elected, Tetangco assured Apaliteños of the construction of a new public hospital and municipal college that will cater to the needs of indigent residents, especially youth and senior citizens.
Canlas, for his part, cast his vote Monday noon, May 13, in his designated polling precinct at Dela Paz Elementary School in Barangay Dela Paz, San Simon.
Canlas expressed gratitude to his fellow Simonians who have shown continued support.
"Regardless of the results, I know I already won because I have seen the warm acceptance and support of my fellow Simonians and I can never be more grateful for that," Canlas said.
If he reclaims the local chief executive seat, Canlas said he will prioritize the construction of a dialysis center to aid the Simonian patients with kidney failure disease.
He said he is also lining up several infrastructure projects, including a community hospital, in the coming years to be funded by the local government funds.
"We have several developmental projects in line and with the help of incoming vice mayor Leonora Wong, we are optimistic that we can implement it, especially that we have sufficient funding in the local government," he said.
Tetangco and Canlas were both three-term mayors of their respective hometowns. Tetangco served from 1998 to 2016, while Canlas was mayor from 2001 to 2010.
