THE City Government of San Fernando was recently recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government for its programs, projects and activities connected to the Manila Bay rehabilitation project.

San Fernando obtained a high compliance rating of 94.65 for the Manila Bay 2020 Regional Local Government Unit Compliance Assessment.

San Fernando and Mabalacat were the only two local government units in Pampanga to attain such a mark.

The City was also named the top-performing city in the province of Pampanga and third in Central Luzon, next to the City of San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan and City of Balanga in Bataan, respectively.

The City gained the rating for complying with pertinent environmental laws that support the clean-up, rehabilitation, and preservation program of the Manila Bay, through the joint efforts of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Engineer's Office, Local Housing and Settlement Division, and other partner agencies.

These programs included the implementation of Liquid Waste and Solid Waste Management practices, management of the Informal Settler Families, and rolling out of Information, Education, and Communication campaigns and institutional arrangements among the barangays and establishments. (PR)
