THE University of the Assumption (UA) on Friday, August 31, joined the province-wide celebration of Aldo ning Amanung Sisuan through nine various activities at their Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz Lecture Hall and Cinense Study Hall and Gallery.
The list of activities include "Ligligan Pamangawang" poster (poster making)," (essay writing) "Ligligan Pamanyulat Sanese," "Ligligan Pamanyulat Poesya," (poetry writing) "Ligligan Pamanyulat Makuyad a Kwentu," (short story writing), a lecture and a "Human Library."
Participants were all required to make pieces based on the official theme of the said celebration, "Makule. Masaya. Mabie. Aldo ning Amanu: Susi king Tagumpe."
The poster making, essay, poetry, and short story writing contests were intended for junior high school and college students.
The winners for the poster making contest are Grade 8 student Liandrei Lumba, education student Mc Jhayce Lacanlale, and nursing student Kenrich Bonifacio, while nursing student Teresas Norma Felix, Celeste Claire Canlas, and business administration-operations management student Alysha Gabrielle Kabigting wrote down their wins in the essay writing contest.
Nursing students Katherine Razon, Mikaella Andrea Lising, and Alyssa Sarmiento topped the poetry making contest and Grade 10 students Emmanuel Simon Lising and Annie Riezel Lising, and Humanities and Social Sciences student Karen Grace Castro scored at the short story making contest.
A lecture based on the religious history background of the Magalang and the Kapampangan people was discussed by Professor Louie Aldrin Lacson Bartolo and was coordinated with the Katipunan da ring Talasaliksik at Talaturung Kapampangan (Katatagan) Incorporated to celebrate National History Month.
The "Human Library" featured 13 human books which all discussed about today's prejudices such as working students, OFW children, LGBTQ+ community, social media fanatics and bookworms for deeper understanding and get the attention of students by word of mouth.
UA is the first ever university in Central Luzon to launch its own human library program, which is an educational line-up that already started in other countries.
The university also held soft launchings of the Apu Ceto Garden and Cinense Library Faculty Lounge, to provide gardening values, life appreciation, and learning to both students and faculty members.
A new feature of Cinense Library called CAFÉ (Catalysts, Artists, Flippers, and Enthusiasts) is a volunteering program that has been launched for students who can join based on their interests and benefit for their service.
