A FEW weeks after five-minute girl shook the social media world, now CR girls grabs the spotlight.
The video footage of a female street vendor arguing with personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) went viral online.
The uploaded clip shows MMDA officers about to tow a motorized food stall which was illegally parked along Solana St., Intramuros.
The woman argued, or should I say explained her side while trying to hold the enforcers back.
In truth, any instance of illegal parking should be towed right away.
Once MMDA arrives at an area and spots an illegally parked car, they will blow their horn and the five minutes start counting down, not from the time that one discovers his infraction. If he does not arrive within five minutes, the vehicle will be towed. If he does arrive, he will still be given a ticket as the parking is still illegal.
The lady vendor insisted that she only needs to use a comfort room prompting her to park her motorized food stall on the street and leaving her with no choice but to go beyond the time limit.
The authorities reiterated their policy but gave her consideration and did not tow her vehicle at all.
Consequently, social media users have also expressed their reactions regarding the incident:
"Ganyan dapat. Hindi puro init ng ulo. Pwedi naman makiusap pero sa sunod hindi na pwedi palusutin."
"Buti pa mahirap maayos makipag usap. Yung mga may pera at may pinag aralan sila pa yung walang mga asal. Ang yayabang pa kala mo sila ang batas na sinusunod."
No one is above the law. And General Luna puts it perfectly: "Kahit na Presidente."
You see, we face moral decisions when an action conflicts with our internal intention or conviction of right and wrong.
What is a moral decision anyway, or a compromise, at that?
It is the basic definition of "kindness" and is a simple ethic that underlies a whole range of convictions. Yet, there can arise dilemma with the simplest of intentions.
If one sincerely holds any law to be absolute, then compromising on that belief must be a sign of serious confusion.
