CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- San Miguel Beermen power forward Arwind Santos yesterday urged Young athletes here to focus their energies into sports instead of vices and drugs.

Santos addressed the participating student athletes in the Second Delta Cup yesterday at the Bren Z. Guiao Complex.

Santos said that sports helps young people value teamwork and friendship as well as a wholesome disposition. He added that young people who would like to take basketball as a career should be patient and not focus on the financial gains immediately.

He added that young athletes should stay away from vices and drugs to succeed not just in sports but in life.

Meanwhile, Vice-Governor Dennis Pineda urged the students to take advantage of the training program offered by his team every summer to hone the skills of young basketball athletes.

The vice-governor said that sports is a good venue for young people to focus their energies. He added that the temptation to go into vices and drugs is stronger among young people who do not have worthwhile hobbies and activities.
