EASTERN Visayas received on Saturday, August 28, 2021, another 49 boxes containing a total of 82,000 doses of vaccines against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
The vaccines, comprised of 70,000 Sinovac and 12,000 AstraZeneca, arrived at the Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City via Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 649.
The regional health department said 50,000 doses of Sinovac were pre-allocated for the province of Leyte, while Ormoc City and Biliran Province will receive a total of 10,000 doses each of Sinovac vaccines.
All the mentioned vaccine doses have been pre-allocated to the said city and provinces in the region.
"The LGU-procured AstraZeneca vaccines will also be transported directly to each concerned municipality. Ormoc City procured a total of 11,200 doses and Palompon, Leyte will receive the remaining 800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines," it said.
According to the regional health department, 98.08 percent of the available doses have been distributed, equating to 982,392 out of 1,001,670 doses received. A total of 819,754 doses have been administered.
"560,092 or 98.59 percent of the 568,087 allocated first doses have already been administered. While 59.89 percent of the second doses have already been administered, equating to 259,662 administered doses," it added.
In its latest vaccination report, health officials in the region said the target population for A1 or the frontline health workers have met the 100 percent coverage rate, while 38.03 percent for A2 or senior citizens, 62.23 percent for A3 or adults with comorbidities and 23.33 percent for A4 or the economic frontliners.
As of Saturday, Eastern Visayas' total number of Covid-19 cases was at 40,689, with total recoveries at 38,868 (95.53 percent) and total deaths at 452 (1.11 percent), bringing the region's total active cases to 1,369 (3.36 percent). (VoxPop Philippines)
