OVER 14,000 houses and infrastructure were destroyed in Eastern Samar which bore the brunt of Typhoon Ambo (Vongfong) on May 14, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Eastern Visayas.
As of 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, estimated number of houses damaged and infrastructure destroyed in the province is 14,727.
The number include 304 in Arteche; 1,692 in Can-avid; 158 in Maslog (48 infrastructures, 110 houses); 9,164 in Oras; 3,405 in San Policarpo; and four in Taft.
Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Bella Rentuaya, spokesperson of PRO-Eastern Visayas, said two deaths were reported in Oras and San Policarpo.
Number of injured persons is 23. These are in Arteche, 4; Can-avid, 10; Maslog, 3; Oras, 2; and San Policarpo, 4.
While the number of evacuees is 15,178 individuals, or 4, 863 families in 23 evacuation centers.
Eastern Samar Provincial Police Office (ESPPO) deployed 26 search and rescue personnel while 40 others were on standby.
At least 29 people were rescued.
Total number of police personnel affected is 96, according to Rentuaya.
At least seven towns in the province have remained without electricity on Saturday.
"Communication signal in some areas in Eastern Samar is intermittent," said Rentuaya.
