16 more former inmates positive of Covid-19

SIXTEEN more former persons deprived of liberty (PDL) were found positive for the new virus that causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, chair of the local Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19, said the 16 new cases are part of the 60 freed PDLs who are undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine at a private hotel in Zone III village, Zamboanga City.

The 14-day quarantine is pursuant to Executive Order 565 issued by Salazar, which sets protocols for the release of PDLs through court orders amid the Covid-19 crisis.

Salazar said latest results showed that 16 former PDLs were positive for Covid-19 was received Wednesday evening, May 14, from the genexpert tests of the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

With this, Zamboanga City now has a total of 124 Covid-19 cases.

The mayor said all the freed PDLs found positive for Covid-19 have been transferred to the isolation facility in Cabatangan village, Zamboanga City. (VoxPop Zamboanga)
