TWO inmates have escaped from a district jail in Zamboanga del Sur province, police said Friday, June 29.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the escapees as Danilo Dumandos, 45, and Nestor Dumandos, 27, both of Balukbahan, Bayog town in Zamboanga del Sur.
Both are facing charges of murder before the Regional Trial Court Branch 30 in Aurora town.
Galvez said the two were supposed to be taking a bath and washing their clothes when escaped around 6 a.m. Thursday by climbing the fence in the laundry area of the Ramon Magsaysay District Jail.
The two inmates then passed through the scaffolding of a two-story building that is under construction before jumping over the 10-foot wall of the facility.
Galvez said the two inmates reportedly fled towards Barangay Esperanza in Ramon Magsaysay town.
