City approves child-minding center

The City Council in its recent regular session, approved for the establishment of Drop-in and Child Minding Center in the villages to provide support system to working parents.

The ordinance was authored by Councilor Joselito Macrohon.

Macrohon said that one of the objectives in establishing the center is to provide supplemental parental care to children of working parents during their working hours.

Macrohon added that the center will provide substitute parenting and protection from all forms of neglect, abuse, and exploitation while the parents are at work and to contribute in the physical and health development of the children through proper care and nutrition.

He said the center can also provide spiritual, socio-cultural, and nationalistic values as well as the development of strong positive attitudes towards God, the family, the environment, and the society in general.

He said the center will be handled by a day care worker, nurse, utility worker, and Gender and Development Focal Person as stipulated in the proposed ordinance.
