THE local Gender and Development (GAD) unit in collaboration with the City Agriculturist Office organized a two-day training from July 9 to 10 on entrepreneurship for community leaders and mothers.
Carmencita Sanchez, city GAD focal person, said the training was in line with the objective to encourage, support and expand participation of the grassroots women in promoting social and economic opportunities.
Sanchez said the activity, dubbed "Training on Entrepreneurship for Community Leaders and Mothers," gave the participants practical knowledge in handling their businesses based on the success stories of Ester Perez, owner of Bakers Field and Rowel Lumagtad, owner of Crafter Creation Handicraft.
Garry Micubo of the Department of Trade and Industry-Zamboanga Field Office, presented an entrepreneurship tool called as "the BEST Game" (Business, Expenses, Savings, and Training).
The BEST Game was developed to teach business skills through the playing of a game – a game played competitively in a simulated business environment which has definite outcome in terms of profits and savings.
Sanchez said the participants to the event were active Rural Improvement Club (RIC) and 4H Club Leaders and Mothers coming from various Agricultural Field Offices.
