A COUPLE was killed in a gun attack at the Caragasan Beach in Maasin, Zamboanga City late Wednesday, February 27.
Usman Kalid Mohammad, 49, died instantaneously from a single gunshot wound while his wife, Julmia, 33, died on the way to the hospital.
Chief Inspector Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, said a lone gunman attacked the couple when they made a stopover around 6:40 p.m. at the beach on their way to the city proper from Ayala.
Galvez said the gunman fled on foot towards the city proper. Two slugs of caliber .45 pistol were recovered at the crime scene.
Galvez said the motive of the shooting was most likely personal grudge, citing a friend of the victims who told the police that the couple was engaged in labor recruitment "but failed to deliver (on) their promises." (Bong Garcia)
