THE local Inter-Agency Task Force on coronavirus disease (Covid-19) said the positive cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) have increased to 134 as another 10 former persons deprived of liberty (PDL) were tested positive for the virus (Sars-CoV-2), which causes Covid-19.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, chairperson of the local Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19, said Friday, May 15, that one of the 10 reported positive cases is part of the 60 former PDLs undergoing the mandatory 14-day quarantine. The test result was released late Thursday.
The quarantine is pursuant to the local government unit protocol initiative to prevent the spread of infection to their family members and respective communities.
Salazar said the freed former PDLs found positive for the coronavirus which causes the Covid-19 have been transferred to an isolation facility in Cabatangan village, Zamboanga City.
The nine new cases made known Friday are part of the second batch of freed PDLs, who were swabbed and tested before the release from the Zamboanga City Reformatory Center (ZCRC).
The mayor did not disclose the total number of PDLs in the second batch except that 27 others are with pending results. (VoxPop Zamboanga)
