Crime group member nabbed

A CRIME group member was arrested, although wounded, in a law enforcement operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported.

Police Captain Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested crime group member as Langga Aukasa, a member of the Labain criminal gang.

Duco said Aukasa was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of service of warrants of arrest around 4:30 a.m. Saturday in Libunoc village, Sirawai, Zamboanga del Norte.

Duco said that Aukasa was shot when he resisted the arresting team composed of intelligence personnel, Special Action Force, Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Zamboanga Peninsula and Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office and Tungawan town policemen.

Duco said that Aukasa is listed as the number six most wanted person in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay, and has standing warrants of arrest for the crime of murder, frustrated murder, piracy and highway robbery.

He said recovered from the possession of the suspect were one M-16 "Baby" Armalite rifle, five short alloy magazines loaded with ammunition; one long alloy magazine loaded with ammunition; one box ammunition of M-16 rifle and a fragmentation grenade.

Duco said that additional charges for illegal possession of firearm, ammunition and explosive will be filed against the suspect. (VoxPop Zamboanga)
