High school student nabbed in Zamboanga City drug bust

A HIGH school student was arrested while some P41,000 worth of suspected shabu seized in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Sunday.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspect as Nurhassan Toralba, 23, a resident of the village of Tumaga, this city.

Galvez said Toralba, a student of the Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School, was arrested in a drug bust around 4:35 p.m., Saturday, at the Bagsakan Center in the village of Sta. Maria, this city.

Galvez said the suspect was arrested after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P200 to an undercover policeman.

She said seized from the suspect were four sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P41,000 and P200 marked money.

She said a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied for filing against the suspect.

She added that the suspect is presently detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office headquarters. (VoxPop Philippines)
