THE Regional Mobile Force Battalion-9 (RMFB-9) has been adjudged as the over-all champion in the recently-concluded 1st Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) competition.
Chief Superintendent Billy Beltran, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the competition was held on Wednesday, April 25, in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Beltran said the other units were ranked as follows: Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO), 1st Runner–Up; Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Police Office, 2nd Runner-up; Zamboanga Del Sur Provincial Police Office, 3rd Runner-up; and, Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office, 4th Runners-up.
Beltran said the objective of the one-day CDM competition is to assess and test the readiness, equipage and capability of PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula CDM units in dealing with and responding to mass actions and public disturbance requiring police response.
He said it also aims to assess the degree and level of adequacy of preparation, effectiveness and swift response in addressing various civil disturbance situations in terms of support, negotiation, arrest, monitoring, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), chemical, medical and fire protection.
He said the competing teams were rated by the CDM competition organizers from the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula during their showdown of inspection; presentation of different formations; and, scenario solving.
They were also graded and inspected through the completeness of CDM composition, equipment, uniforms and support elements.
Beltran said the RMFB-9 CDM team will represent the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula in the annual PNP-CDM competition slated to be held this year. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
